My name is Lee Salmon and I have been into field and gun dog breeds for nearly 40 years. I started in Golden, Labrador and Flatcoated Retrievers. I predominantly moved to the Labrador Breed because of the vastness of the gene pool and the multiple lines within the sport.
I have trained over 300 individual dogs in over 10 breeds within the gun dog breeds including English Pointer, German Shorthaired Pointers, English Setters and Wirehairs for field work and competition field events.
In 2023, I was looking for a Sporting breed that did not have the field/conformation split and wandered into the Irish Red and White Setters. After getting a couple of opportunities to get a couple, Wind River Irish Red and White Setters was born.
I love the aspect that this breed is rarer in population and that its still the “do all” within the breed rather than the “show” or “field” aspect.
I have fallen in love with this exuberant and beautiful breed and hope you enjoy watching my journey forward in both the ring and the field.
